Justin Oh-Lee
Psychology professor
His research: He investigates drug therapies for neurological disorders like Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s and Huntington’s with the aid of funding from the National Institutes of Health.
Why it matters: Oh-Lee and his students regularly meet with patients struggling with neurological diseases. Even with the drugs currently available, they suffer from symptoms that interfere with their normal lives. Oh-Lee hopes his research will help alleviate their symptoms and improve their quality of life.
Why CMU: “A CMU education can offer opportunities to work one-on-one with faculty members and gain hands-on experience in all aspects of research and scientific discovery. I think CMU is becoming the training ground for future neuroscientists and research physicians who will be conducting very important research in the future.”
CMU is nationally recognized for research as the tenth most productive research university in the country of schools with 15 or fewer doctoral programs, according to a 2007 Academic Analytics report.
